As I close my eyes and look out into the oblivion, loving a person like I loved you, jolts me awake. I wrote this collection of poems to seek other souls who have ever felt like they were alone due to the way other individuals have effected their lives, specifically romantic partners. People never pay attention to the footprints that they leave behind. Within the three sections of this book, I hope to express the reality of what it's like to be left by another person and the aftermath of certain situations a majority of people are put through.

Life constantly takes twists that no one sees coming; it's inevitable. The key to coping with that is knowing you are the only person who can turn the knob in embracing your next chapter. Pricilla left her small town after graduation and hasn’t looked back since. She has a "perfect" life, "perfect" boyfriend but most importantly, she has some not so perfect scars. In a desperate need of a break, Cilla goes home to visit her best friend, Allie. The only downfall is while she's in search of the answers regarding her future, she begins indiscreetly digging in the past. Some untold secrets create a chain of events that cannot be escaped, no matter the time that has elapsed. Colton, being Allie's brother, is nothing short of an ideal man, but he happens to be hiding the biggest heartbreak of all. Tall, dark and constantly brooding, it's easy to understand his pain, but when Colton decides to take a leap of fate and opens up his heart one last time to the only girl he's ever cared about, he seeks revenge on feeling everything he's ever lost all over again.

Sebastian Harper isn’t the ideal man. He refuses relationships, believes love is irrelevant, and harbors a dark secret. In a generation where women fantasize about men dominating them, Sebastian lives in a world where women dominate him. Unmasking specific secrets only leads to harm, however, can harm actually be creditable to the insignificant idea of compassion?

This is a short story spin-off written by Katie L. Tyler to her collaboration novel, Southern Rapture.

The world around us isn’t as forgiving as the people who love us the most.
Sometimes we try so hard only to meet a dead end on a path that we thought was the right one. I met Matty in sixth grade. I fell in love with him over the course of our adolescent years. The thing about us is there never really was an us. There was a promise, an almost, a maybe. Somewhere down the line I have full faith our stars would’ve eventually aligned. It would’ve been right. It would’ve been perfect. But not everyone is meant to get a fairytale ending. Especially when the person I was
destined to be with happened to be his best friend.

Growing up, Mya Jackson has always been the plus size advocate in her family.
After being constantly degraded by friends, relatives and random outsiders, she accepted that she didn’t deserve happiness. Battling mind over matter, Mya worked through her inner demons and changed her perspective on her body as well as what she wanted in life. Actions speak louder than words and scars manipulate the heart from healing completely. Only those who are strong enough can come out alive.

Matty Edwards, captain of West Creek High's football team, a role model to many, and most importantly, a best friend to Mya Jackson. While being faced with many adversities in his life, one of the hardest trials of all has been caving in to the pressures of being popular while struggling with his own internal conflicts. Hidden secrets are never meant to surface, but when a prideful image was more important than the desires of his heart, he lost the one thing that meant the most to him, her. Little did he know his best friend Kameron was awaiting his fall to sweep in and steal the woman of his dreams.
